Upgrading Wheels

Hello, my BiL has a 2010 Mazda6 Sport with factory 225-45-R18 wheels. He's been offered a set of 149A 255-45-R19 wheels/tyres from a 2013 Mazda6. Can anyone tell me if this is a straight swap, or are there issues my BiL needs to address. Many thanks in advance for your help. Cheers

You will need to compare the numbers.

235/45ZR18 94W    8Jx18 ET60    5x114.3

It replies that the inner clearance will be 21mm more and the outer position will extend an extra 9mm.

Somewhere online were photos of a GH car with GJ wheels but I am not sure what they had done. If you add spacers you can keep the wheel more or less at the same level visually but it will be still be further away from the car at the inner side.

So basically it does not look like a straight swap and the issues you will have short term will be the spacers and long term who knows how the car will take that extra load in this new setting.
