new mazda owner and just serviced
« on: August 11, 2012, 06:19:40 pm »
Hi all, just got my mazda and got a Major service done with  halfrauds auto centre.

Only thing to pop up was i needed new pads front and back.

The rears were fairly low so i changed them.

When i got to the front ones i found something shocking.

The driver side pads were fine, in fact i'd say there was 10-14mm still left on the pads, on the passenager side, the inside pad had the same around 10-14mm but the out side had 1mm!!!

The car has been pulling to the left a fair amount and while driving i am hearing what could be a grinding/rubbing noise.

Could it be that i have a sticking brake caliper on one side?? If not do you have any suggestions and cures?

many thanks for all advice in advance  :D

Yes you caliper is sticking or the pads are stuck and can't move back freely. I would clean the caliper making sure that where the pads slide and sit are free of rust and dirt, use a light smear of copper slip after cleaning, also remove the caliper sliding pins, make sure they move freely and regrease with red rubber grease, check the caliper piston operation by pushing it in and out to see if it sticks, you'll most likely need a piston pusher to help or a G clamp might do the same trick.

Need to do my rears soon. Not had the car up on the jack yet , so can you advise if the rears require winding in. If so, need to find my wind back tool as well. Thanks
