Black Beauty
« on: August 25, 2014, 10:52:18 pm »
Hi all

Ive had my car for about 3 months now but have just found this site. Very happy to be on board. My car is a Black 175 sport nav saloon, purchased from a main dealer. I went there with a new Mazda 3 sport in mind but got to looking at a Mazda 6 which was about two months old. Took it for a test drive and was very impressed so I changed tack and bought the 6. Very happy with the car, powerful and economical, a rare combination but Mazda have managed it.

Nice one. I was thinking to buy a manual as well. But bought and auto for the first time. How is your fuel economy?

Does the auto have the "flappy paddles" behind the steering wheel or is it a full auto box.
You car is the colour I would have preferred but the only one available was black, it really suits the car and I had it bodyglazed by the dealer so I dont have the "always dirty" issues and dont need to wax it.

I dont really pay too much attention to the day to day economy as it varies so much but my wife uses the car to get to and from work so its start/stop driving with a bit of A road 50mph on the way. I reckon we are getting between 40 to 45 mpg  so happy enough with that.
I do have an accurate figure for a recent drive from Newcastle to Aberdeen. I brimmed the tank before I left and brimmed it again when I arrived, it cost me £32. That works out at 54 mpg and I wasnt hanging about so that could easily be bettered but theres no way I am driving all the way up there at 60mph, I enjoy the performance too much.

Yes it does. Pretty handy. You an also use the lever for manual shifting.
According to the computer I averaged 48.9 mpg over 150 miles of mixed driving.

Very nice, I had the tiptronic semi-auto box on my 407 coupe but no paddles.
Good figures for an auto estate model, I should be able to better them with a manual saloon. Think I will have to lighten up with the right foot.
Im off on holiday this week but when I get back I am going to the dealer to arrange the free bluetooth module upgrade.
The I-pod issue doesnt bother me too much but its free so why not.

Will be good to see what you can get out of a tank. At the moment I used one quarter of a tank for a little bit more than 200 miles. So not bad. What bluetooth module upgrade?

A lot of owners have complained that if you are listening to I-pod tracks via blue tooth and switch off the ignition, when you switch back on, the device always goes back to the first track and it takes a bit if time to download the data. There is a Multi Media System upgrade available under warranty in which the blue tooth module is replaced free of charge. However, it seems that dealers have been told that this work should only be done if the customer insists. The repair has been given a reference number which is RO56/14. I believe there is a bit of a backlog on the equipment side so you have to wait a bit to get the work done. If your car is new enough it might already have the upgraded module, not sure about that but the symptoms are pretty obvious, mine was registered in December 2013 and needs the upgrade. There's some discussion about it on the owners club site.

I did not even notice this. My car was an ex mazda Uk car, so they might have replaced it already.
But will check it next time.

I just tried mine. When I got in the car it did not start the music which I was listening to yesterday.
I started some music then turned the ignition off. Got back in the car 5 minutes later and it started it where I left it. So I suppose it is working.

Good, pleased to hear that. My car was the dealer sales managers car and became available when he left but never got the upgrade. On a side note, have you ever gave the Bose srereo a good blast? What a sound, amazing.

Funny enough I never tried it in the new car. I just had a baby so have to keep the volume down, but in my previous 3 it was very good indeed. This one should be better as it has more speakers.
