Title: Fitting reverse sensors
Post by: Gayno on October 27, 2012, 05:58:04 pm
Was trying to fit my reverse sensors the other day, and when I removed the bumper, I found there's a great metal reinforcement bar that sits right behind the bumper.

This now mean I can't fit the sensors as there isn't enough depth for them.

Can you get a reinforcement bar that has the holes precut (from OEM reverse sensors)?

Or do I need to find some metal hole saws and cut my own?!

This bar is removed if you fit a towbar.  While my bumper was off, I fitted the type of sensor that has an aluminium strip glued to the bumper which acts as an aerial.  I don't know if this type would be better with the metal bar on, though.

So then, is the bar actually required?

Is it more there to stop major damage to the bumper in the event of a minor shunt more than anything else?!

Probably protects the fuel tank too!
