Car jack for the new 6
« on: August 18, 2014, 06:26:22 pm »
Hello guys, does anyone know if the new 6 comes with a car jack? I know it doesn't come with a spare but it might come with a jack.

Thanks

No, it doesn't. I bought this one via Amazon http://www.amazon.co.uk/SCISSOR-WHEEL-JACK-WIND-MAZDA/dp/B006IPMTPU/ref=aag_m_pw_dp?ie=UTF8&m=A1J6N4PBPI53J9 although it was only £14.95 last year! It fits into the space intended for it behind the offside wheelarch of my Tourer. It looks pretty much identical to the Mazda version and works OK.

You don't get a wheelbrace either, 21mm size is needed.

Nice one. Thank you. I will need to purchase one. I think I do have a wheel brace though.

You fit it under the cover, right? Can you screw it down or does it not rattle?

Thanks

I told my dealership I was not buying the car unless it came with a spacesaver spare, jack & wheel nut spanner so he added that and it had the compressor & shaving foam as well.

Has anybody had the TPMS come up when the tyres are ok or not even moved the car?

The TPMS works on the ABS sensor picking up a change of rotational speed due to the drop in pressure. So if the car isn't moving  how can it sense and drop in pressure??

My dealer recommends that you run the 6 at 38 psig, not book value (33) as it tends to feather the edges of the tyres  causing premature wear ( 10K miles for a set of tyres) instead of 20K.
Mazda Europe won't agree as they go by the Tyre Manufacturers recommendations, so they sit on the fence, despite what dealers are telling them and they can and not pay out on warranty as tyres are wear parts.

Jacking points, new 6
« Reply #6 on: November 02, 2014, 09:38:31 pm »
As the book shows, but sometimes difficult to pick up in poor light, there are two mushroom looking things on the jacking flanges, that you put the jack between.  Recommend dabbing them with white paint so you can see them easily in the dark.

Not had the car high enough up with a jack yet, but are there any hard points to put an axle stand?
And will the Skyactive drive up a pair of wheel ramps without damaging the plastic bits underneath at the front.
