Wiper Blades
« on: December 24, 2014, 10:46:20 am »
I know this is probably a dumb question, but...

I just got some replacement wiper blades for my 09 Mazda 6 estate - got these ones: http://www.wiperblades.co.uk/bosch-sp24-super-plus-and-bosch-sp16-super-plus-twin-pack-wiper-blades/

Now, on removing the old ones (presume they are the originals) I noticed that they have a whole chunky aero-dynamic casing, and a little clip you have to open before they can slide off.  The whole assembly weghs about twice as much as the new blades!

Now, I'm presuming that these are just flashy blades, and you replace the whole thing, but I just wanted to check I wasn't being dumb and part of the casing / cover doesn't come off and fit to new blades?

The originals on mine had this chunky aerodynamic shape. The whole blade and casing comes off and are then dumped. I replaced mine with the same Bosch blades as yours. They don't look as flashy as the originals but they do just as good a job.

Ye that's right, change the whole thing. They do look better, but buying replacements is difficult, you have to buy then from Mazda. I couldn't find any for my 3 which use the same wiper style.

The best wipers to buy are the Bosch Aero Twin flat blade upgrade ones. They're a flat blade so work better, look good and fit the normal hook.

Mate, if u buying Bosch ones why don't you buy the AR24 and AR16 instead of the SPs, it fits the "olds school" hook type wiper arm but it is called aerotwin. So much better than the original Mazda ones and a lot better than the SP range.
