Title: Mazda CX-5 Specifications
Post by: Little John on February 21, 2012, 12:21:25 pm
The specifications and prices for the CX-5 are now available on the Mazda website:

http://www.mazda.co.uk/showroom/cx-5/specs/ (http://www.mazda.co.uk/showroom/cx-5/specs/)

There still doesn't appear to be a launch date published, but I keep hearing April...

from what I have read the new sky activ engines seem to be pretty good, anyone know much about them and how they are different to the current engines?

I think the SkyActiv petrol has been out in the US for a while - I think the 2.0 petrol that we'll get has a super high compression ratio of about 14:1 !

If I read the report correctly, surprisingly unlike the petrol engine, the new diesel engine has a very low compression ratio, but is also very smooth and economic.

The diesel sky active engines indeed have low compression ratio but both diesel engines have twin scroll turbos (seems to be fashionable just like all new BMW's ). This will mean access to the usable power from idle with first turbo before the second turbo kicks in at about 2,000rpm. It's all sounds good. Just a shame that they haven't thought about turbo charging their petrol engines with twin scroll.

Also they have the sky active gearboxes as well, for the manual it's a short throw gear change just like the MX-5. As for the auto this has both normal clutch as well as a torque converter!!! Basically non of that slippage feeling of the engine when accelarating on motorways as clutch keeps things locked up. I can' t wait to try one of these to be honest

its a clone from the i35 family and as nice as the build quality is it still looks like the hyundi.
