Recall notifications
« on: January 31, 2018, 10:20:53 am »
Hi all, I bought my 2014 Mazda 6 back in November (loving it). At the weekend, I noticed that when my kids got in the car, the handbrake slipped a little and the car started to slowly roll back on the driveway (it's a slopey one). This morning, I noticed there was a lot of slack in the handbrake cable when it was off. I am sure someone must have found and posted this before now on here, but just in case, and for all those of us who have just bought a car and could do with a bit more information than a dealer is prepared to divulge, this site checks for recall notices on your vehicle. Sure enough, when I put my VIN in, I get a red notification that there is a recall notice outstanding. A quick call to Mazda and lo and behold, the rear brake calipers are under recall due to an increased likelihood of handbrake failure on some 2014 and 2015 models! Here is the site address:

This has been diagnosed and highlighted before here   http://www.mazda6forums.co.uk/index.php?topic=2851.msg12007#msg12007

It is worth checking before posting.

I find the VOSA site to be a lot easier to use than the motorombudsman one
Look at life through the windscreen, not the rearview mirror.
