Brake noises advice
« on: April 01, 2017, 06:00:48 pm »
Hey all. Iv had my 1.8 ts for a few months now and totally love it. Iv noticed the brakes squeaking a bit but also as the car is slowing theres a fairly quiet knocking sound as the wheels are coming to a stop  like thud thud thud. Any ideas what it is? Its under warranty still from where i got it but fine print says wear and tear on brakes etc not included

 8)Hi
What about if you let it coast to a halt without touching the brakes do you still get the thud thud if you do then might not be brakes but also the brakes might be causing some thing else to knock try the coasting first and take it from there
Cheers Steve  8)

Hey. Been off work ill so wasnt out in car. I drove it the other day and couldnt hear any noises but today its back. When braking just before stopping as the wheels turning its a faint clunk clunk clunk. When moving off theres one knock at back wheel (sounds from there anyway). Do you think its maybe a bearing? Im going to try get it in asap just hoping not a big job

In my experience with cars that have had wheel bearings fail , they tend to be a steady growl, getting louder as the thing wears. If it is a  wheel bearing needs fixing asap.

Yeah will get it in. Doesnt sound like that tho. Tryin to describe it better its almost like every complete turn of the wheel it does the knock but only when about to come to a stop. Wierd lol. Will get it in after easter holiday as i think places close as of tomorow. Dont need to drive for a couple days anyway but lets hope its not expensive lol
