Buying a 2012 2.2 Sport....
« on: February 26, 2017, 01:51:06 pm »
Hi folks. I am new to the world of Mazda so be gentle!  I am on the point of buying a 2012 2.2 180 Sport hatchback,  69k with full Mazda history,  the car looks and sounds mint but I just thought I'd ask if there is anything I should look for before parting with my hard earned???
Hear talk of cam chain issues......
Hopefully all will be well and I look forward to joining the tribe!

Hi. Welcome to the forum.  When you get the time, I  would suggest that you have a good look around the forum. There is plenty of information available here and you are not the first to ask these questions.
Happy researching :)

Hi and welcome I would get the dealer to give you a report on the timing chain stretch as to if it's near for replacement and for you to research the dpf issues that's all steve out.
 Cheers steve

Thanks,  tbh I am in the trade and it's a trade in I am looking to buy for myself,  given the miles and roads I will be on the dpf should be ok. I have a contact at the local Mazda dealership that I will get to check the car's warranty history to see if the chain has been done under warranty. Just looking for peace of mind really.
I am familiar with the general issues with dpf's but cam chains are a worry. ...!!

Well it came in today - funny that - and the owner handed over the bills for the chain replacement last year,  happy days!
Should have my new 6 in a week or 2 ????
