I got the following 3 errors on the dashboard screen yesterday morning during local school run:
  • Engine System Malfunction
  • DSC Malfunction
  • SCBS Malfunction

I happened to have an ODB reader with me so I pulled over and hooked it up. It showed this error:

P2118 - Throttle Actuator Control Motor Current Range / Performance

I've cleared the error but it came back straight away. The car started up OK and I managed to drive safely home.

Has anyone experienced this sort of problem?

The car has only done 34k miles, it's been serviced by Mazda Dealers since new.

The worst bit is that it happened only 37 days after the warranty expired (typical :/).

Any info and recommendations greatly appreciated.

Maybe you will be lucky and the dealer will still take this up for free.

Other users have reported these error codes and their fix is expensive.

Any idea what exactly was broken with other users' cars?

I think the errors are generic and you need to investigate further to find out what they mean.

Start with the actuator.

You can read other stories only to find out that the repairs can in any direction.
