Firstly, if this issue has been addressed and answered before, I apologise but I can't find an answer..
Brief History...
I have a Mazda 6 2009 2.2 Sport MZR CD. There were some DPF issues at the outset (3 years ago) which my local garage addressed but they identified a lack of turbo power and with the EML light on from time to time they suggested I go to Mazda for a full diagnostic, After various failed efforts to rectify they concluded that the turbo boost wasn't working and, as an integral part of the turbo, the whole thing needed replacing .
Not being happy with a £2.5k quote I went back to my local garage who fitted a recon unit.
Where I am now...
All appears ok until I am driving at motorway type speed and try and maintain speed or accelerate whilst going up an incline. There is a minor (but noticeable) stutter, the EML light comes on and I am immediately short on power. The car remains in that state for a couple of days, during which time I am having to change down a gear when I wouldn't normally and there's not enough power in 5th to get nme up a hill which normallay would be a breeze. I also get the impression that the engine sounds a bit more "diesel" than usual.
After a couple of days the light goes off and power is restored... until the next time.
My local garage who fitted the turbo suggested were unsure and suggested a referral back to Mazda as their diagnostics are better but, depite various visits, I'm not getting any useful information or suggestions, just a shrug of the shoulders.
I describe the issue as something in the car thinking "Hmm there's a bit of effort required here, lets shut down part of the turbo and see if it goes away"
Can anyone suggest a likely cause that can be investigated without too much expense by my local garage (I have no faith in the Mazda dealer)
Thanks
