Title: 2009 Mazda 6 EPS
Post by: MikeS on August 24, 2020, 05:54:56 pm
The steering on my car has an intermittent fault which disables the steering and brings on the warning light on the dash. Stopping and switching ignition off and then restarting clears the fault and it can be fine for anything from 5 minutes to weeks.

The steering rack had a permanent fault last year and was replaced with a reconditioned unit. The steering a year ago was heavier in one direction than the other.

This time the steering has the same feel in both directions. I am assuming that the rack is ok and have bought a second hand control unit. If I take out the old ECU and replace it is there any software setup required other than the straight ahead position required?
