Can anyone offer advice on how to protect exposed metal in the winter months caused by stone chips from rusting before touching up? I really only have a chance at weekends to apply touch up paint due to the dark nights, and don't want to make a hasty repair that looks terrible.
I was thinking of Autoglym Aqua Wax and then washing off with isopropyl alcohol before touching up. Autoglym Extra Gloss Protection is probably a better sealant, but probably more difficult to remove.
I find that chips on my Mazda 6 rust extraordinarily quickly, thus my nervously at leaving for even a few days.

I think it is more surface rust than something that will create a hole.
It does not look nice but the touch up paint may not look great too.
