Eonon Android HU and the Bose Stereo
« on: May 11, 2017, 02:32:55 pm »
Hi All

I have moved to a 6 from a 3, both have/had a Bose stereo. In the 3 I installed a Eonon WinCE HU and while it was great the volume was very loud, there was also a hiss consistently. I have now purchased an Eonon Android HU for the 6 and when connecting it found volume 1 was ear splittingly loud and there was consistently a loud buzz. After some Googlings I found that the issues is that the Eonon stereo amps the audio and sends it to the Bose amp which guess what amps it again. A couple of people online have shown a hack which gets round this, wiring the RCA outs into the harness as such sending a set low single to the Bose amp. I have now done this and volume is normal and also no buzz. Woo!

Added a few screenshots in the .zip as although not hard to do hard to find online...

I should also explain that the 4 wires and the bottom of the harness in the first image are the lines into the amp for front and rear speakers. The top of the Eonon units have a wire diagram displaying this also.

So how is the radio a few months on? Are you happy with it?
On a weird side note, it seems that a lot of the links posted in the forum for the OEM-style Chinese units are no longer valid, even going directly to the company websites and searching for "Mazda 6". Maybe all the manufacturers were building the Mazda 6 models in the same factory and it burned down in a flood?

My question is, did you replaced whole radio unit or just the soft with original radio?

I want change my radio in my Mazda 6 2014 to something like in the link below.
Is that gonna be working ?
All controller will be compatible with it ?

Lukas-tiger  Please don't double post the same questions. Your other post has been removed.  Thanks.

I think there are past reviews of these wow looking but no name radios that it is more about the looks than anything else. You like one of them, you go for it and hope that the hang over the next day will not hurt too much.

You will get comments about radio receiving problems, playback, etc. But it looks good. I think this is how these sell, look good, fresh, get a new image, etc.

If your radio has less functionality than these radios and you want to keep both the new radio and the car for more than a few months, it may be worthy checking something from the big brands.

https://www.amazon.co.uk/Sony-XAV-AX100-Receiver-Bluetooth-CarPlay/dp/B01LY8222N

I have no idea how good these are, but my gut feeling is that unless you are an expert, I think that no matter what anyone tells you, you may not notice any difference at all among them if the thing works as it should.

I am not sure what the radio of the third generation car can do, but if you think that any of these radios will give you something extra, even if it is just looks, go for it.

If you just want to listen to R2 in a different better looking radio, I think you may end up confused reading all these reviews and the whole exercise will be no different than reading car reviews for leasing a car for a couple of years to be stack in traffic. You may feel good that you have the best car in the segment but even the worst car in the segment would perform in exactly the same way under these conditions.

So I am not sure what you can do with these radios but I suppose their functionality is very similar and the chances of getting what you were promised, may be higher with the big brands rather with the no name ones. So in that sense, it may be like buying the big saloon from the Germans instead of the Italians/French/Koreans/Japanese, just because they make something that is good enough and it may not have the latest wow features but it is a mature trouble free product.
